Nurturing Your Inner Child: A Journey to Personal Growth

Within each of us resides a playful, curious, and imaginative inner child, a remnant of our youthful exuberance and untamed spirit. While adulthood often brings responsibilities and a sense of maturity, it's crucial to keep that inner child alive, for it holds the key to personal growth and fulfillment.

1. Embrace Playfulness and Joy:

Rediscover the simple pleasures that brought you joy as a child. Engage in activities that spark your creativity and ignite your sense of wonder. Whether it's painting, dancing, playing music, or simply spending time in nature, allow yourself to embrace the lightheartedness and spontaneity of childhood. Through out my childhood I have enjoyed watching cartoons, it used be an activity of extreme joy for me to watch cartoons because we were a joint family and we had one Television placed in our drawing room too often elders were watching their favourite programmes so we children had to compromise but when we used to get time, I used to watch cartoons like Doraemon or Kitretsu and sinchan. I do watch cartoons as adult, it's always a nostalgia and return to my childhood.

We all have such activities which we associate to our childhood experiences, they still have potential to bring same pleasure to us however we are caught up in play to  portray ourselves as adults. Embrace the child that you have with in yourself and see what happens.

2. Cultivate Curiosity and Exploration:

Approach the world with the inquisitive eyes of a child. Ask questions, seek out new experiences, and challenge your assumptions. Step outside your comfort zone and embrace the unfamiliar. This openness to learning and growth will keep your inner child alive and thriving. We as adults have this attitude of neglecting our curiosity, we sometimes want to talk to stranger but we let go because it serves no purpose. You no longer tend to find answers to general curiosities because you think it uses cognitive energy. You no longer explore things and it pushes you to live experiences as routine thus making your life boring and uninteresting. It's important to feed your curiosity and exploration.

3. Practice Self-Acceptance and Compassion:

Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding you would extend to a child. Forgive yourself for mistakes, celebrate your accomplishments, and accept your imperfections. Self-compassion is the foundation for a healthy and fulfilling life. You tend to be harsh on ourselves. You fear judgements which result into denial of you are and making it harder for you to accept your choices and personality.

4. Honor Your Imagination and Dreams:

Don't let the realities of adulthood stifle your dreams and aspirations. Allow your imagination to run wild, and envision the possibilities that lie ahead. Hold onto your dreams, no matter how big or small, and take steps to make them a reality.

5. Embrace the Power of Self-Expression:

Find ways to express your unique talents and passions. Whether it's through writing, art, music, or any other form of creative expression, allow your inner child to shine through. Self-expression is a vital part of personal growth and fulfillment.

Keeping your inner child alive is not about regressing to a state of immaturity; it's about embracing the qualities that make us human – curiosity, creativity, and a sense of wonder. It's about approaching life with an open mind and a playful spirit, and recognizing that even in the midst of adulthood's challenges, there is still room for joy, exploration, and self-discovery.

I will end with quote that would summarize my whole point.

Self mastery is keeping the innerchild alive in adult body and mature mind.
