In the last blog we told you how does a habit has a particular mechanism of action or a vicious modus,when we know the science behind it we can use this mechanism to transform any habit.

How you can Build a New Habit?

1.Find a clear and specific trigger for yourself to perform an action or behaviour 

example:- for exercising we can have a particular time as trigger.Say whenever clock strikes 5 a.m. you get that trigger to perform the exercise.

2. Have a specific set of action 

you should be very specific about that trigger and whenever you get that trigger start performing your task or your behaviour linked to that trigger .

Do not link more task to a particular trigger and never delay your behaviour or procrastinate you work.

Example:- do not do any task except exercising at 5 a.m. and make it impossible for you to skip your exercising routine.



3. Make your rewards more satisfactory 

You should make your rewards more gratifying and pleasurable in order to keep this feeling of pleasure intact in your mind.

WHENEVER THE REWARD IS MORE SATISFYING YOU TEND TO CRAVE FOR THE TASK .

Example:- In case of exercising you can have a reward of having a banana Shake after work out .

How to Leave a Bad Habit or drop an Addiction?

1.Remove the triggers 

Let's take an example of notifications in smartphone.

You can turn off your notifications to remove that triggers for you to check your smartphone frequently and your using smartphone will decrease.

2.Resist or replace behaviour

It can be hard for you to resist but you can replace behaviours to trigger .

Example :-whenever you crave to have tea you can have lemonade or milk instead of tea.

3.Make your rewards more satisfactory 

When ever you perform a task which you don't need to perform then punish yourself

Example:-you can ask yourself to do 5 pushups every time you use mobile.
